BYRD
   Mary Walker Byrd, 89, passed away Friday, February 25, 2000.
   She was born on August 7, 1910 in Granbury, TX, married Euguene Byrd in January 1944 in Cleburne and had resided in Corpus Christi since 1960.
   She was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Fleet Reserve Assoc. since 1962 and a Red Cross Volunteer in Corpus Christi.
   She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Byrd on July 1, 1968.
   Survivors include: brother-in-law Jack C. Byrd, Bremerton, WA, sisters-in-law Billie Allen, Cleburne, TX, Frances Zeilman, Rusk, TX, Evelyn Allen, Rusk, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
   Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2000 at 10:00 AM at Cleburne Memorial Cemetery in Cleburne, TX.

FLEMING
   Esta D. Fleming passed away Saturday, February 26, 2000 at the age of 88.
   A beautician by trade, she owned and operated the first beauty shop in the 1930's in Freer, Texas and worked for several years as a cashier for the Boulevard Drive-In Theatre on Lexington Blvd. and the Corpus Drive-In Theatre on Leopard St.
   She is survived by her daughter, Sue (Wayne) Cross of Corpus Christi, TX; sons William (Patricia) Fleming of Westlake Village CA, and Robert (Glenda) Fleming Sr. of Corpus Christi, TX; sisters Wilma Stuber and Mary Kring; brother Bill Ramsey all of Corpus Christi, TX; seven grandchildren Patricia Corrigan, Charlie Burnett, Richard Burnett, Greg Burnett, Tami Fleming, Wil Fleming, and Robert Fleming Jr.; and twenty-one great grandchildren.
   Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2000 with family present to receive friends from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 8:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. prior to funeral services at 3:00 p.m. in the Seaside Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery.

HANNA
   C.A. Hanna, 75, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2000 in a local hospital.
   He is preceded in death by his son Richard Hanna.
   He is survived by his wife Irene Hanna of Corpus Christi, TX; seven children Ronald Hanna of Bryan, Texas, Marlena Clemons of San Antonio, TX, Mary (Stewart) Pitre of Aransas, TX, Randall Hanna of Aransas Pass, Texas, Melinda (Kenneth) Bean of San Diego, CA, Reginald Hanna of Aransas Pass, TX, and Marcela (Chris) Kapsaroff of Greenwich, CT; fifteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
   A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, February 27, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. in the Seaside Chapel.

HEANEY
   Dr. John P. Heaney, the last in line of 3 generations of Heaney physicians who have served patients in South Texas, died at his home in San Antonio Thursday, February 24, 2000 after a lengthy illness.
   Dr. Heaney was born in Corpus Christi in 1913 to Dr. Harry G. and Winifred Pilter Heaney, and was preceded in death by two brothers: Dr. Harry Gordon Heaney and James David Heaney, and a sister, Dr. Kathryn Heaney Heymann.
   Dr. Heaney received his medical degree from Baylor Med in 1937 and served his internship at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. He served in World War II with the Roosevelt Hospital assigned to the 9th Evacuation Surgical Unit, the first American Hospital on the Tunisian front.
   In 1947 Dr. Heaney moved to Houston where he was appointed Chief of Surgery of the Houston Veteran's Administration Hospital. He served there until he moved to San Antonio in 1952, where he spent nearly three decades in private practice, and also was Clinical Professor of Thoracic Surgery at UTHSC.
   A member of numerous Professional Medical and Surgical organizations, Dr. Heaney was also a founding member of the Arthur Purdy Stout Society of surgical pathologists and he authored and co-authored many medical papers and made several original surgical contributions in the areas of both general and thoracic surgery.
   Jack, as his friends remember him, is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Gilbert Heaney, two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Kelly Breazeale and Winifred and Will Mundinger and two sons and their wives David Heaney and Ann Lents and John and Diedra Best Heaney as well as by nine grandchildren: Wes and Jeff Breazeale; William, Elizabeth and Robert Mundinger; David and Elizabeth Heaney; and Angie and Jennifer Best. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Heaney White and her husband William F. White Jr. and by his brothers' and sisters' extended families with roots in Corpus Christi. The family thanks all Dr. Heaney's caregivers who did so much to help him and us throughout his last illness, especially those associated with Brit-Tex Home Healthcare and Vistacare Family Hospice. If desired, contributions may be sent to St. David's Episcopal Church, 1300 Wiltshire; the San Antonio Area Foundation, 110 Broadway; or the charity of your choice. Dr. Heaney's service will be private. The family will receive friends in their home on Sunday, February 27, 2000 from 4:00-6:00 pm. Dr. Heaney has asked that his body be given for use in organ donation and medical research, and his wish has been proudly honored by his family.

HERNANDEZ
   Francisca Aleman Hernandez, 92, of Robstown, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2000.
   She is survived by two sons Claro Serna Jr. of Garland, TX, Hilario Serna II of Robstown, one daughter Leonarda Ramirez of Robstown, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
   The family will be receiving friends from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. Sunday, February 27, 2000 at Robstown Memorial Funeral Home.
   Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, February 27, 2000 at Robstown Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
   Rites of christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 28, 2000 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
   Interment will follow at Memorial Park.

MELENDEZ
   Amelia Melendez, 68, of Driscoll, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2000. She was a member of Templo Ebenezer for 15 years.
   She was preceded in death by her husband Jorge Melendez; son Rolando Gutierrez; parents Juan and Carolina Gaona; brother, Rodolfo Gaona.
   She is survived by four daughters: Ofilia (Adolfo) Martinez of Driscoll, San Juanita (Manuel) Barrera of Brownsville, Lydia (Abel) Ortiz of Flint, Michigan, Margarita Cantu of Banquete; two sons, Pete (Linda) Adrian of Ft. Worth, Enrique (Cyndi) Adrian of Flint, Michigan; three sisters, Elena Gonzalez of Driscoll, Alicia Gutierrez and Linda Gomez both of Ennis, Texas; two brothers, Juan (Lucia) Gaona of Driscoll and Saragoza Gaona of San Jose, California; aunt Felipa Guajardo of Driscoll; sister-in-law, Benita Gaona of Driscoll; 25 grandchildren: Roel, Andy, Adolfo Martinez, Jr., Anthony Adrian, Denise Fontenot, Amy Gonzales, Jaime Barrera, Melissa Sosa, Joshua Barrera, Rachel Becerra, Cynthia O. Adrian, Beatrice, Veronica, Abel Ortiz, Desiree, Rolando, Selena, Santino Gutierrez, Rick, Joshua, Adam Adrian, Cristina, Raymundo, Crystal, Carmen Cantu; 18 great-grandchildren.
   The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday February 25, 2000 at Robstown Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
   Prayer Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2000 at Robstown Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
   Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2000 at Robstown Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
   Interment will follow at De La Luz Cemetery in Driscoll, Texas.

MELTON
   ARANSAS PASS TX - Lonnie Allison Melton, Jr., 63, a resident of Aransas Pass, Texas since 1975, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2000 in a San Antonio hospital. He was born September 23, 1936 in Langedale, Alabama to Lonnie and Lillian Melton. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces in Germany from 1960 until 1962. He was Project Manager for Brown & Root on the Dupont facility here from 1975 until 1981. He retired from the construction business in 1984 and became co-owner of Par-Mel Silkscreening, Printing & Sign Company.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Lonnie Melton, Sr.
   He is survived by his wife Ann Melton of Aransas Pass; his son, Gary Tinnerman of Aransas Pass; his daughter, Tasha Pate Smith and her husband Rick of Aransas Pass; four sisters: Murell (Gordon) Leonard of Chickamauga, Georgia, Marvine Souder of Vineland, New Jersey, Diane Winter of Pensacola, Florida, and Michelle Humphreys of Rosville, Georgia; his uncle Tom Melton of Alexander City, Alabama and 19 nieces and nephews.
   Memorial Services will be conducted Monday, February 28, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Charlie Marshall Chapel, Aransas Pass with Kay Wolfe officiating.

MORENO
   Concepcion R. Moreno, 76, of Corpus Christi, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2000 in a local hospital. He was born on December 8, 1924 in Gonzalez, Texas.
   He is survived by his wife, Santos G. Moreno of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Jaunita M. Ramirez of Houston, Texas; two sons, Reynaldo Moreno of Corpus Christi and Enrique (Irma) Moreno of Austin, Texas; one brother, Pablo Moreno of Pasadena, Texas; one sister; Jesusa Vela of Bay City, Texas; his grandchildren, Carmen A. Perez, Theresa Aranda and Rudy Moreno; great grandchildren, Gabriella, Alex, Frankie, Gabriel and Adrian.
   Public visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2000 at the Angelus Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
   Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2000 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

REVILLA
   Gilberto S. Revilla, age 89, passed away on February 25, 2000. He was born in Falfurrias, TX in 1910 on Rancho Trevino owned by Ed Lazater.
   He was employed by Nueces Hotel in the 1930's and was a salesperson for Dr. Pepper, 7-Up and Pearl Beer. In 1956 he moved to California and became a barber. In 1981 he returned to Corpus Christi to retire.
   He is survived by his loving wife Martina Revilla, his daughter; Linda (Brandon) Cornell-Manrow, a grandson; James Rivilla; a brother; Noe (Alice) Trevino, all of Corpus Christi and a sister, Angie (Lupe) Eribia of Houston.
   The family will be receiving friends Monday, February 28, 2000 at Trevino Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
   Services are under the direction of Jaime Trevino.

SALAZAR
   Jesus "Jesse" V. Salazar, 62, of Corpus Christi passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, February 25, 2000.
   He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Elia C. Salazar, Step Son, Lloyd (Martha) Estudillo; Sons, Ruben Lee (Katrina) Salazar of Bedford, TX and John David Salazar of Corpus Christi, TX; Two Sisters, Sister Dorothy Salazar of Brownsville, TX and Adela Gonzales of Beeville, TX; Two Brothers, Celestino (Jesusa) Salazar and Jose (Margaret) Salazar all of Beeville, TX; three grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
   The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, February 27, 2000 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home, Holly Chapel with a Rosary to be recited by Sister Dorothy at 7:00 PM that evening.
   Funeral procession will depart at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2000.
   Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church.
   Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

YEARY
   Travis Cecil Yeary passed away Saturday, February 26, 2000 at the age of 56.
   Travis was employed by Weathertrol for 30 years and enjoyed hunting. He was a loving husband and father who will be dearly missed.
   He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth E. Yeary.
   He is survived by his children Lance G. Yeary of Chicago, IL, Kelly R. (James) Elam of San Antonio, TX, Jewel C. (Ian) Messerli of Lewisville, TX, Travis M. (Amanda) Yeary of Corpus Christi, TX and John J. Yeary of College Station, TX; two brothers Emmitt Yeary and Winford Yeary.
   Visitation will be held on Monday, February 28, 2000 from 5:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery.
